Dance therapy is about how it feels and not about performing or what it looks like. There’s no wrong or right way of moving, any movement is absolutely possible. It can be done by anyone regardless of prior dance experience, physical ability, levels of fitness, or body shape and measurements. My role is to hold a comfortable and non-judgemental space that makes you feel safe enough to begin moving authentically according to however you feel like.
I see strong complementarity between yoga and dance therapy. They are both therapeutic and ultimately aim for the same: the connection between the body, the mind and the spirit. My yoga teaching is blended with my dance therapy practice: slow flow asana sequences, where breath leads the movement, complemented with free fluid movement for authentic self-expression, allowing you to move your emotions and practice listening to your own body.
